I need to know how to clean and sterilize wooden perches.?
I need some at-home solutions that I can mix up and use to clean and hopefully sterilize wooden perches.
My bird was recently treated for either a respitatory infection or air sac mites, the vet didn’t know which one it was, so he treated him for both. If it was air sac mites, I know that they can live in the wood of the perches. Since I have so many different sizes and so many, I would like to sterilize them as well as clean them.
Any idea’s?
bleach killing everything will always be a debate. Some people believe it, others don’t.
Using bleach on birds, you need to use only the TINIEST amount & rinse extremely well then sit in sun to dry. Wood is porous so eventually things like ecoli embed itself into the wood & no amount of cleaning or chemicals can ever remove it. so every few months or so it’s a good idea to change to new clean wooden perches.
this website gives you other alternatives to bleach that’re completely safe for birds & are home products, not chemicals.
