How did the Victorians manage to sink huge blocks of concrete or wood when they formed piers in the sea?
When the Victorians built the solid piers and breakwaters, how on earth did they manage to accurately place giant pre-cast concrete block on and into the sea bed?
They built caissons around the site, and drained the water out.
