harry potter vs. lord of the rings?…..?
just a few random questions about my two favorite series of movies. pick your favorite!
wizard? dumbledore vs. gandalf?
fantasy world? hogwarts vs. middle earth?
creepiest forest? the forbidden forest vs. mirkwood?
tree most likely to kick your a**? the whomping willow vs. treebeard?
who would you rather have your back in a war? the centaurs vs. the wood elves?
spider you wouldn’t want to meet in the dark? aragog vs. shelob?
who would want to travel with as your faithful companions? ron and hermione vs. sam, merry, and pippen?
I’m completely and utterly devoted to both so this should be fun:
1. In terms of likability I’d go team Dumbledore…in terms of actual power and usefulness it’s Gandalf all the way. This one is hard because I LOVE book Dumbledore and dislike the movie version, and I LOVE movie Gandalf and dislike book version.
2. Middle Earth all the way…in Harry Potter land you’re restricted to one area. Middle Earth is big sprawling awesome.
3. Forbidden…why would you put Mirkwood over Fangorn? Mirkwood isn’t that scary at all…it’s populated by elves (who are scary sometimes granted) but not as scary as Fangorns killer trees and nowhere NEAR Forbidden Forests population of Giant Spiders.
4. Treebeard. He’s more sentient AND he can chase you down if you try to run.
5. Elves all the way! Centaurs are scary, but more likely to turn on you if you tick ‘em off.
6. Tie. I’m Arachnaphobic…Aragog is scarier in the film version than Shelob is though. Probably just because I’m more terrified of those types of spiders than the larger Shelob types…also the fact that she was taken down by a 3 foot tall Hobbit sorta takes the edge off her.
7. Sam, Merry and Pippin…they have a tendency to burst into song and that’s just good entertainment.
