Does anyone know what kind of bird has a red head and white body?
I live in Northeast Texas on Lake Palestine. I saw a white bird with a red head sitting on a fence this morning. It was about the size of a Robin. I thought it might be the baby of a woodpecker, but cannot find any pictures of woodpecker babies to confirm. Does anyone know what it might be?
It was more than likely a Common Flicker, otherwise known as a woodpecker. This species stays closer to the ground because they like to feed on ants.
