I’d love a pet bird but I want something more natural than a parakeet- suggestions?
I know parakeets and conjures and the like ARE “natural” but I want something that looks like I caught it outside. I want something with Victorian naturalist spirit of a finch with the personality of a parakeet. I have heard that finches are finicky and not especially handleable and that para are usually really friendly. I’m not into quaker parrots or conjures or cockatiels- I want something smaller and more natural. Thanks!
p.s. I have a beautiful old cage that is somewhat small- 15 by 15 perhaps- is there anything small enough that I can ethically keep in there?

get java finches as they are easy to tame and easy to handle with your hands. i have two java finches that just sit on my shoulder for hours while im on the computer. They are very cheap birds and are easy to look after. They aren’t that big also, and looks like it has been caught outside. Also Java finches are one of the finches that are easy to tame and they dont get as scared.

Java Finches are native of the Java Island in Indonesia, and are also know as Java Sparrows or Java Rice Birds. Although their impressive beaks look like they could do serious damage, they’re in fact peaceful birds that go along well with other species, even ones that use different languages. Like the developers they represent, Java Finches usually fly and work in groups and are known to spread everywhere. They are also very good to keep for pets.
