A cat bite my hand right on my vein. Should I get a rabies shot?
I was playing with a cat outside. And all of a sudden it bite my hand where my vein is and wouldn’t let go. My hand is hurting bad. What should I do? Do I need a rabies shot? Should I go to the hospital? Help me please
How do u know if a cat has rabies?
If the cat’s teeth broke the skin, go to the hospital immediately.
In addition to rabies, cat bites have quite a few very nasty, very dangerous germs that can cause hand paralysis, amputation and can even be fatal if you leave them go.
RUN to an emergency room.
Bring the cat if you can find it. They’ll test it for rabies. VERY good idea if you don’t know who owns it, or if it’s been vaccinated.
Symptoms of rabies in the cat:
Disorientation – the cat seems confused, often running in circles. The cat will seem frantic, angry, or just plain “weird”.
It may or may not foam at the mouth. Foam is caused by the inability to swallow, which comes later in the disease. If it’s in early stages, there may not be foam.
It’s pupils will be dilated, it will be breathing heavily, and seem “off”.
Symptoms for you:
It starts out being “flu like”. Itchy, watery eyes, coughing, runny nose.
BY THE TIME YOU START SHOWING SYMPTOMS, IT’S ALREADY FATAL. Better be safe than sorry.
