Is wrapping paper ribbon safe for birds?
I am looking to make a toy for my pet lovebird out of regular wrapping paper ribbon.
Wondering if it is safe or if there is anything in it that is harmful
Thanks!
I would say unsafe. Actually, anything that can get wrapped around a toe, foot, neck, beak (whatever body part) is unsafe. That’s why you always have to watch what’s going on w bird toys on a daily basis. But I agree w the first answer that said shorter lengths might be safeR. Have you checked online for the kinds of supplies and suggestions for making bird toys yourself? http://www.birdsnestonline.com/ or http://www.avianweb.com/foragingtoys.html and there are so many more if you do a web search.
My bird toy (or any pet really) philosophy has always been “So how are my birds gonna hurt themselves w this contraption?” Read up on first aid for birds. Have an avian vet. Have fun w your project & your birds.
