A Segway Transporter

If you have ever wished that you had a magic carpet that you could use to get around the traffic jams or run a quick errand, your wish may be almost coming true. Rather than a ‘flying carpet’ how about a rolling carpet? Or to be exact a Segways Human Transporter.

The Segway human transporter was developed a few years ago to change the way we move. A green alternative to gas powered transportation, the segway has transformed how some of us get to work, do our work or play when not working. No longer are we bound to the traditional fossil fuel vehicles with their toxic emissions. Now we can use battery powered transporters with no emissions, a low carbon footprint and almost no maintenance.

Electric propulsion moves the machine along. Using gyroscopes and sensors to balance the rider, the Segway (sometimes incorrectly spelled seqway) responds to the rider’s weight shifts to move forward or backward. It has zero turning radius so it can literally turn on a dime. And it only takes a few minutes to learn how to ride smoothly and safely.

Software installed on the machine controls the traction control and braking. The lithium ion battery is an efficient power source and has a longer life than older versions of the battery. The braking system is regenerative which means the batteries recharge when decelerating. Imagine creating energy as you ride along.

Riders have told us that it is as if the Segway Human Transporter can read your mind. Knowing where to go and when to turn is almost intuitive. This is the result of the amazing combination of propulsion, energy, inertial sensing and an intuitive interface. The machine is also equipped with redundant systems which allow you to control acceleration, braking, steering and other functions instead of the usual mechanical controls. All the information you need about system operation including speed, battery life, and other connectivity information are all sent over a wireless connection to a handheld device on the dash.

There are several models of Segway Human transporters available. There are the basic models for general sidewalk use. Accessories are available to customize the look and utility. Many towns are using Segway for their police units, allowing security patrols in parks, malls, building complexes increasing the ability of the police to provide security. Many commuters are using customized units to avoid the gridlock of city traffic to get to work. And there is the rugged, off-sidewalk version which is perfect in parks, on bike paths and at the beach.

Where can you find one of these wonders? Dealerships are available in every state of the union. Visit a dealer to learn more about the Segway, take a demonstration ride to see for yourself the fun and economy of these amazing little transporters. If you decide to purchase or rent one, the dealer will provide a thorough orientation so you can ride safely.

If you are looking for green transportation, you owe it to yourself to test ride a Segway Human Transporter. This alternative method of travel is for those who want to have a smaller carbon footprint, an efficient and unique transportation experience and just plain fun in getting from here to there.
