parrot has little purple sores on feet?
About in the middle of my White Front Amazon Parrot’s (Mr. Sid) foot/pad, there is a circular sore that is a dark-ish shade of purple. I am very concerned, because I have tried Neosporion on a regular basis, but it does not seem to have any effect. I removed my parrot’s sandy-perch I got at Pet’s Mart, because I was afraid this was where the trouble was coming from. I replaced the sand-perch with a manzanita perch quickly. She has not yet shown any signs of trying to stay off that particular foot, but I am afraid if the sore is not treated soon she will start staying off the foot. My quesiton is, is this serious enough to have to get to the vet, or is there a particular ointment I can use to treat the sore?

Sounds like your are trying to get ahead of any problem. In case of broken skin (even minor abrasions) infection is the risk. Oral antibiotics are required for that. I’m a “go to the vet” person and would recommend it. Have you offered a rope perch? I always keep 2 manzanita perches in the cage and a rope perch. One amazon even perches on a very hard cardboard roll.
I hate sandy perches/perch covers/cage liners of any kind. I don’t know why they even manufacture them in the 21st century (well, yes I do. Money). Makes me crazy. I don’t knowingly buy any products from companies that sell any of this junk.
