Florida Residents Have Incentives To Attend A College In Florida

So, you are starting to think about college.  If you are in your junior or senior year of high school, it is looming pretty close in the near future.  There are some great schools in Florida, and with so many so look into and discover, how will you choose the right one?  If you are born and raised in Florida, chances are you know someone who has attended one of the many public or private universities. If it is someone in your family, he or she may already have a bug in your ear about which school to attend, or perhaps he or she enjoys one of the many great sports teams and would love to see you become a part of the school.

Tuition and other fees are a main concern for students and their parents who will be footing the bill.  Remaining in Florida for college is very affordable thanks to the Bright Futures scholarship program funded through the Florida Lottery.  There are different scholarships that pay out based on high school grade point averages.  There are programs that pay anywhere from half to the full amount of your total tuition costs per semester. There are many great law schools in the state at both private and public universities. The University of Florida as well as Florida State has long standing programs. If you prefer a private campus, Nova Southeastern University, Barry University and Stetson have great programs with small campuses. If you are looking at a specific region to attend school, for example South Florida or West Florida, you can center your search that way.  South Florida is known for its sunshine, great dining, and great universities.  The University of Miami, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, and Palm Beach Atlantic University are all located in South Florida.  If you prefer the sunsets and great fishing on the west coast, you can attend Florida Gulf Coast University, the University of South Florida in Tampa, or the University of Tampa.  Whichever school you choose, you are sure to receive a great experience.

There are many benefits to attending a university in Florida besides the perks of being near the ocean, the great weather, and amazing sports teams.  There are several nationally recognized programs that you can get a top-notch education at without paying Ivy League prices.
