Are these OK for cockatiels?

Hi everybody,

I’m glad to see you being so responsible and checking things out ahead of time. That’s always very wise when we have birds and may even save their lives. They are very sensitive to many things and we must know ahead of time what we must protect them from. You probably have many products and items in your home that are toxic to birds and you will have to stop using them. I’m going to give you some links below to help you research those things. As for the play gym, no, do not use the artifical grass. It can be toxic if the bird should decide to peck at it and maybe try to eat any. Even if it were not toxic, it would be almost impossible to keep clean. Just leave a smooth floor so it can be easily wiped off and disinfected. Trust me, a play gym floor gets lots of poop on it. If you are building your own, and you want it to be green, you can paint it with any paint that is safe for use in an infants room. Safer yet, you can soak the piece that will be the floor in green food coloring. However, your bird will not care what color it is and natural soft pine is great. If you want to make it look natural, I suggest artifical greenery. They won’t try to eat any of it. The lists below include lists of plants and woods that are safe for birds.
