What is a safe tree branch or wood to use as perches for my new Lovebirds?
I would like to give them some variety and also to exercise their feet and keep their nails in order. I am a new Lovebird owner and advice would be welcome.
Apple, Pear, Willow.these are all safe tree branches or a pine pole(untreated)
I have used these when I kept Lovebirds and other parrot species for over 45 years,always wash them before use,
Always make sure your birds have Cuttle bone and occasionally give them soaked sprouting seed.
Soak some of their seed in warm water overnight,drain, rinse ,place somewhere warm till it sprouts ,rinse and feed right away.
This gives them extra vitamins and is a good conditioner.
All plants carry cyanide but not in the quantities that will do any harm to birds ,they would have to live on litterally tons of vegatation.
