Parrot Shredder

Parrot Shredder
my parrot keeps biting cage, what can i do and why?

ok, so my bird every morning EARLY morning my green cheek bites his cage and it annoying cuz its loud. he has plently of toys and preening ones. i also got him those shredders and i wrap it around where he bites. but why is he doing tht. and now he is going around the shredder to make the noise i put a blanket over his cage and he stops but im tired of waking up so early. im like a mother going to its crying baby. i tried putting the blanket over b4 i go to bed butttttttt no, does it again, very smart. and why wont he talk !! i say hello to him 1000000000x and i get no where.

Before getting my macaw I did extensive research on captive bird behavior. The cage biting/banging was one thing that was addressed in my research. It is a behavior that they exhibit when they are lacking some kind of stimulation (mental/physical). Basically it’s his way of expressing frustration. As far as what exactly the problem is, I couldn’t begin to tell you because you are the only one who knows how you interact with him. The problem may be that you don’t spend enough time with him. Holding him and physically interacting with him. When I first got my macaw he would constantly bang his beak on his cage. He wasn’t socialized well to humans when I got him but now that he is he gets constant interaction with me and my husband and lots of people time out of his cage. He no longer bangs on his cage. Hope this is helpful. :)
