Is there A difference between a mix fruit tetra fish and a Painted Glass Tetra?
The ones I saw at walmart were mix fruit tetra’s and they said they inject them with color and it fades. I want the painted glass Tetra but I want make sure that their not the same!!!!
Walmarts “Mixed Fruit Tetras” are actually white skirt tetras that have benn chemically bathed to strip their slime coat of and then dyed much like a shirt might be. “Painted” Glass Tetras are a Glass fish which is injected with neon colored dyes. The color fades in both and they are both more susceptable to disease and cancer.
The same is done to “Jellybean” Parrotfish and a few other”designer”fish. Don’t bother with them.
however if you want a similar fish that is not “Painted” Glowlight Tetras (NOT Glofish, those are Zebra Danios genetically modified with Jellyfish genes) Glowlights are small schooling fish with a Neon Orange stripes through their sides. they look AWESOME in a School of 10 to 20 in a tank with black gravel and a bunch of nice Val grass or imitation Val…
