Questions about Breeding Mini Macaws?
I have a proven Illiger’s Macaw pair, and this is the first clutch since I got them. Female has been laying eggs since 10/11 and so far she is sitting on 4 eggs… I think she broke one though. (5 total) As of today, her stomach is getting bigger again! I have read that normal clutch size is 2-4. Does anyone know how many eggs mini Macaws can possibly lay? Also, is there any way I can stop her laying? I haven’t candled the eggs yet, but since she has been sitting and this is not her first clutch, I think these eggs are fertilite… Thank you for your help! 
Relax!!!!! Your birds are fine! There is no reason for you to stop her from laying eggs. She will only lay what she needs too. She might be laying to replace the one or ones that she broke. Sometime they lay more eggs, because the ones that came out first might not be any good. (So leave her alone!) I know that is easier said that done. But do it anyway. You can candle the eggs with a flashlight to see is you see the veins of a growing chick inside the egg. Sounds to me like you have a good mother bird. So relax and let her do her job! It will be ok!
