Elevate Education Quality through LMS

The society is responsible for the personal and professional development of its members, the citizens, through education. The society is expected to provide quality education to its citizens who will be responsible for building the future.

The success of man can be rooted from his education attainment. Citizens in the society should be able to acquire the best quality of education. In the end, it is the society which will gain from the seed of quality education that it planted.

The society has the greatest influence to its citizens in terms of education. The quality of education greatly affects—or dictates—what man will become in the future.

To-date, racial discrimination still exists particularly in public schools hence, this has become one of the issues of quality of education. Among the ones being discriminated are the African American race whose rights and privilege seem to have been embargoed. Unfortunately, both students and educators who belong to the minority group are being prejudiced even in school premises. When members of the academic institution are not fairly treated by the administration, then this where the education problem starts.

American public education suffers because of the long-time overdue crises such as racial discrimination. The quality of education especially in public schools is deteriorating because of imprudent education system and regulations. The society condemns inequality but the centers for learning themselves discounts the issue of racial discrimination existing in their premises. Racial discrimination in schools is not exclusively encountered by students, even the educators are prejudiced.

Racial discrimination still tops the list of the common problems of public education in the United States. The minority groups such as the African American race are inferior of the white Americans. Both the non-white students and teachers are subject to discrimination in almost all public schools. The problem of racial discrimination continues to exist because even the learning institutions are not able to condemn the act.

The primary reason for African American and other minority students to perform poorly in school is inferiority complex. The colour of their skin becomes an automatic declaration of weakness, inadequacy, and a disability in school or in the society. To avoid being discriminated more, minority students tend to keep themselves mum, unable to speak out their minds. Much to the amusement of many, researches in the past showed that minority students can perform equally well with white students only when tests were done at their respective homes.  Public-schooled students performed significantly different from each other, non-whites garnering lower scores than the whites. In other words, the atmosphere in the school plays a vital role in the learning progress of the minority students.

Based on studies results in the past, African American students and those who belong to the minority group did not excel in academics as the effect of discrimination in the campus. Discrimination locked minority students in their shell until the victory of the first black president. Home-schooled students faired equally well with each other regardless of race.   However, when the same tests were administered to the students in public schools, there was a great disparity between the grades of the whites and the minority group. Evidently, the learning atmosphere has got a lot to do about the performance of students.

Non-white students seldom excel in academic activities because of inferiority complex. Instead of developing self esteem and confidence at school, these are not seemingly enhanced. Rejection is a cutting word experience that they prefer to stay shelled. In a past study conducted to assess the success performance of home-schooled students, it was found out that minority students played equally well with the whites. In the public school set-up, the performance of the whites outweighed that of the minority. Clearly, the learning setting says a lot about the academic performance of students.

Minority teachers also experience discrimination at work even in the academic institution when they are selected to leave their jobs. In a public school, African American teachers who are in service for more than several decades were terminated—being replaced by white teachers who were younger in the profession.

Discrimination is not only true for students; even African American educators also get rejected, humiliated and discriminated. In Chicago, several veteran teachers were laid off in execution of the administration’s turnaround plan in public schools. However, to much of their surprise, their replacements were younger white teachers whose skills were apparently below par.

Both students and educators who belong to the minority race experience discrimination in the school. Non-white American educators were kicked out from their jobs after decades of service in one of the public schools in Chicago. Call it coincidence, the educators laid off were African American, and were replaced by younger white teachers.

How can the public school administrators handle this issue of racial discrimination?

Is there a chance for this long-time overdue racial issue to get solved?

For the longest time, one would think if there’s ever hope for the minority groups in the academic institutions.

Basically, to be able to hit the problem at core is by changing the system—adopt a learning management system. Education and training can be monitored and managed by the schools through the LMS, software. The LMS can make administrative works a lot easier such as materials sharing, record-keeping, etc. Can LMS really help eradicate discrimination in public schools? LMS is web-based, hence, students no longer need to go to the classroom physically to attend to class. Because of this, minority students no longer fear to attend class since they can get one online. The inferiority complex of non-white students will gradually fade away because interaction in class will be online already. Race and age should no longer be a concern to non-white educators since the primary focus of their work is to provide relevant materials to students.   The most competent educators will then be preserved by the school. Equality among students will prevail because of the features of the LMS such as the capability of measuring the academic performance of each student who makes inputs online. Because of the objectivity of LMS,  it is assumed that biases in the grading system will not happen.

There is a solution to the problem of discrimination in public schools and it is a learning management system, software which assists the administrators in managing education and training. LMS is web-based so that students will be engaged in virtual learning. In essence, since there is lesser, if not zero,  physical and personal interaction among students in school, then there is lesser chance of being rejected and discriminated as well. Students of the minority races will no longer be anxious about their skin colour and most likely boost their confidence through online discussions. Development of course work will be at optimum since the educators will be able to focus on the training materials and manuals. Meaning, regardless of their age and colour, it is the quality of work or the content of their lessons is substantiated, and not something else. Another benefit of adopting an LMS is its capability to quantify the performance of each student. As oppose to the classroom setting, there will be no biases or mis-graded efforts on students. The grading system in an LMS will change in such a way that everything and everyone will be rated objectively.

Absolutely yes. Racial discrimination can be beaten up by adopting a learning management system in public schools. LMS is software that is designed for tracking, managing and monitoring education and training in the web. LMS promotes virtual learning which develops other facets of a student’s life aside from the academic tasks. Public education can be made technology-inclined through an LMS. In terms of administrative tasks, an LMS can be used to keep records, share materials, display training manuals, and many more. The virtual technology will challenge the students not only to handle deadlines, but to manage their learning habits well through the LMS. More than the academic requirements, students will develop their sense of responsibility and belongingness in the online group—instead of rejecting each other. Learning is brought to the comforts of the personal spaces of the students, hence should allow them to perform better. The self confidence and esteem of minority students will be boosted through online discussions. The focal point of development will be the LMS, hence educators will be more motivated to improve on the materials they make available for the students. Since the LMS can measure the actual academic performance of every student, then students, and parents are assured of fair treatment among the students. Subjective opinions and treatment will no longer have space in an LMS-using school.

The use of a learning management will teach students both academic matters and character-building concepts. Since online discussions and trainings no longer require physical presence in the classroom, students will learn to manage their own academic undertakings based on priority. Learning does not have to be strictly all-book, public school administrators can use technology for this tech-savvy generation through LMS.

Online discussions and training should attract the students in doing well with academic tasks. Not only the students and educators benefit from LMS, the school as a whole will gain a lot from this system. Learning management system can uplift the quality of education in the United States.

Racial discrimination can be eradicated by using a learning management system. This is just the first step to regaining the genuine quality of education in the country. The society, in general will be the direct beneficiary of the results generated from adopting a learning management system in public schools.
