I need information on how to treat/paint a galvanized poultry feeder?
I have a poultry feeder and need instructions on painting it . I want to make a candy (M&M ) dispenser out of it. Thank you,
Galvanizing is molten zinc applied to the base metal. Probably steel, possibly aluminum. I recommend you take it to Lowes or Home Depot and get an opinion. This won’t be easy, the galvanized surface must be treated and probably should be sanded first. Paint will be difficult to adhere on this surface.
You may want to consider having it sand blasted to remove the galvanize. If you do, you must paint it right away because it will rust.
