comet/feeder goldfish in horse water trough?
Is it safe to put a few of those cheap goldfish in a horses water trough to help keep it clean? Its in the shade but I have to clean the trough out 2x a week because there is algae and they drop hay in it…I usually take the hay out when i notice it but its harder to get the algae out. its a 75 gallon and gets filled 2-3x a week so I dont think I will need to worry about fish waste building up or anything and we have friends who have done this without any problems. I thought maybe monitor the fish for a week before adding them to the water to make sure they are healthy as well.
You can use goldfish, guppies , and algae eaters and catfish to keep the algae out, but a simpler way is to purchase a product called krystal trough. I sell it in my store and here is what the box says ;

that the trough needs to be thoroughly cleaned before use.
