Those who think dog breeds aren’t a product of evolution, your thoughts on the details below?
If you were placed in a room with 10 adults and one child, could you pick out the mother and father from the adults? Chances are you would at least get one wrong.
Consider how different a child’s appearance can be from their parents or grandparents. That’s only one generation (or about 100 years). Now, consider how different the descendants would look like after 60 million years (or 600,000 generations). That’s how long it took primates to evolve into the modern human. If your children have more/less hair than you after just one generation or different height, think of how much more hair you could have after 600,000. That’s how apes became human.
It is an example of evolution in that it shows that a mechanism for genetic variation and change within species exists in nature- it’s always good to hit the creationists with some cold hard facts like this just to remind them that their ideology is a bag of crap.
Edit- Selective breeding is an example of evolution- the only difference is the impetus comes not from natural selection but from man’s interference in the breeding process. I think some of my fellow atheists here need to brush up their knowledge of evolutionary principles. I won’t always be here to ensure that the correct answers are being provided.
