Selecting a Perfect Camping Location
Going on a camping trip and spending time out in the woods is an excellent means of escaping the usual grind of work-eat-sleep. It allows you to enjoy nature in a way that most of us cannot do everyday.
How does one select the ideal campsite?
Before you can pick an actual camping site, you first have to do research on campgrounds that fit your needs. This is easy thanks to the Internet and the fact that many campgrounds have their own website. You can check out the campsites through the website before actually going there, allowing you to make an educated decision about your choice of campground.
Please remember, campsites can look a tad more glorified than they really are, much like pictures in a menu at restaurants.
Before you choose your campsite you need to take into consideration what kind of camping you want to do. A few campgrounds still offer what is known as “primitive camping.” Do you know what that means?
At primitive campgrounds you must bring ALL your supplies of your own. Prepare to bring everything from toilet paper to a first aid kit and from shelter to lots of water. Primitive campsites are usually deep in the wilderness where you will not find electricity, water, showers, or even pit toilets.
Quite the opposite are the campgrounds that are not only breathtakingly gorgeous, but also provide lots of amenities, such as water, electricity, and disposal. Some campgrounds have super-upgraded their amenities and will even have a spa!
Many campgrounds are balanced within these two extremes. If you choose to camp in a private park you will probably find all amenities you desire. Many offer washers and dryers, shopping areas and arcades and they are glad to accommodate customers planning on an extended stay. The majority of private parks also offer bingo and other organized activities such as child-friendly games or competitions.
The Cost of Campgrounds
Fees at private parks are generally higher than those of public campgrounds. Campgrounds in state parks can include everything from primitive to resort like settings. A number of them provide connections for electric, swimming pools, shower and flush toilet facilities, guided tours, play areas for the kids, and so on.
State and national forest parks are normally fairly basic. Fire rings, pit toilets and picnic tables will most likely be found here. Prices on these campground are in the right price range for everyone, sometimes even free.
Campgrounds do fill up early during nice weather.
When the weather is beautiful, most people will pick a campground early and stay there to enjoy the day as opposed to drive the whole day for a far-away campsite. If you want a premium spot you have to come early and get lucky.
Do you wish to camp by the swimming pool and playground? The children will find this quite convenient, but you may find yourself dealing with excess noise and too much foot traffic. The same can be said for locations close to restroom and shower facilities. Expect to have a constant stream of pedestrians outside your tent.
Do you want a quiet, isolated setting or do you prefer to be in the midst of the hustle-bustle? Camping offers something unique for all people. There’s no doubt you can find the perfect one to suit your family’s needs.
