The Seven Top Books About The Most Popular Band Of All Time
I’m definitely well past where I can count up all of the books I’ve read about The Beatles. It’s safe to say I’ve read a lot more than 7. My point is that my list of the seven best books about The Beatles is not just thrown together, it’s a carefully selected group of 7 out of the many books on the band that I’ve read.
The Beatles Anthology – If I had to recommend only one book to a Beatles fan it would be this one. It’s The Beatles story as told by the band themselves and it’s filled with great pictures and interesting insights.
The Beatles Complete Scores – Every song The Beatles released from 1962 to 1970. It includes the complete music for each song and it also includes the tab for guitarists who don’t read music (and it should be mentioned that John Lennon & Paul McCartney could not read music.)
Many Years From Now – Paul McCartney wrote this book with Barry Miles (who was around the band during the ’60s.) This is a great first person account on the band that changed the world.
Revolution In The Head – This handy resource includes factual information on each Beatles song with quite a bit of opinion. While the opinions are often way off the mark (at least in my own opinion!) they do make the book more interesting.
The Beatles As Musicians – Technically I’m cheating with this book because this is actually a two book set. One book covers the band’s music from 1957 through Rubber Soul and the other picks up at Revolver through 1970. This book is meant for those who are very interested in an extremely detailed look at The Beatles music (not their life, but their songs.) Contains much music theory!
Recording The Beatles – This book costs one hundred dollars and is really only of interest to serious gear heads. If that sounds like you, it’s probably worth the hefty price tag.
Here, There, & Everywhere: My Life Recording The Beatles – This book really “puts you in the studio” with the band. This is probably most interesting to those who are really interested in the process of how The Beatles music was recorded.
Almost all of these Beatles books are able to be downloaded and read with the Kindle DX and on the new Global Kindle ebook reading devices.
