Corner Cage

Corner Cage
Why does a Senegal Parrot Put their backs in the corner of their cage?

we just got a senegal parrott and when we put her back in her cage she always on and off puts her back in the corner of the cage and holds herself their and we were just curious is she is doing this for a particular reason or just for show.

Congrats on your new baby! I’m not 100% sure what you mean exactly but, most Senegal’s are very comfortable on their backs. My Senegal loves to play on his back and many times in his treat dish he will lay on his back(like hes about to do a somersault) and whistle or say “hello”.He also enjoys laying on his back in my hand(he trusts me a lot. he would not let me do this when I first got him.) as I give him a belly rub or he knows how to play dead by throwing his head back when I pretend to shoot him with my finger! Your bird may be doing it just for playful reasons she may want even more attention and not want to have to go back .It’s probably no harmful reason. Also if shes a baby (can tell by her eyes grayish= baby, bright yellow =adult) just for future reference at some point the more she gets to know you she may start bobbing her head and making funny noises that just means she loves you and is trying to regurgitate food for you (yeah kinda gross) when my Senegal first did this I got kind of got worried but you shouldn’t because now you know.
Have fun with your new baby!
