Corner Cage

Corner Cage
My hamster has white stuff in her cage corner any ideas?

My hamster wees in one corner of her cage and when i clean her out there is this white stuff left and i can’t get rid of it. I put lots of sawdust in the cage especially in that corner but she digs down to the plastic then wees. What is the white stuff? and What should i do?

It’s fairly common for that to occur when a hamster urinates directly on the plastic. You just have to scrub it a bit more when you clean the cage. It most likely will not come off, but the bacteria will be killed with the cleaning.

Also, do NOT use sawdust for bedding. All forms of wood chip bedding (excluding pure aspen) is toxic to rodents. The wood lets off dangerous fumes when it contacts urine and droppings, typically leading to respiratory infection and sometimes death. It’s also generally uncomfortable for the animal. Beddings like Carefresh are made of safely recycled and processed cardboard, providing a healthy and comfy substrate for your hamster. (Carefresh also has a higher odor control than any wood-based bedding and doesn’t affect allergies in you or the hamster).
