How old do I have to be to own a Cockatoo?
I’m looking online at parrots for sale. I’m considering the Cockatoo looking the most cute and playful pet.
I’m homechooled and don’t go to any places with friends much. I sped time with parakeets and was wondering if I could get a Cockatoo but I don’t really know how old I have to be.

I would say you are not experienced enough to try a cockatoo unless you have an experienced person in your home who has owned a too.Yoiu can take a step up to a cockatiel or a conure of which the green cheek is probably best for a beginner. Any hand raised ,well socialized bird from a breeder would be a good choice. Senegals are nice birds. They are fun.
You can try your local churches for teen groups. Also 4H clubs,scouts ,YMCA ,or YWCA or even call your local school office and find out what activities you can get involved in.
