Should I get a Cockatiel, Conure, or a Budgie?
Hello there everyone. My parents are homeschooling me next year and my dad said this summer I can get a bird, I really love them and have been studying up on the for about two years so I know a lot about parrots in general. We were going to get a cockatoo or macaw but we can’t find any breeders near us (this will be my first bird by the way). I don’t mind birds screaming/chirping. I am looking for a bird that will be cuddly and like to be held/petted. So should I get a conure, budgie, or a cockatiel? I will have plenty of time to spend with them through out the day. Thank you everyone!
Ps: I like bigger birds
Conures:
They arent the cheepest but we have one and gosh its hilarious! It tries to swim in its food ball. I have 2 admit they do turn out into such pretty birds when they get older. As long as you handle them they can become such loving pets but they require a shit load of attention and can become naughty and very cheeky to get attention. They are very loud! They are probably the loudest and take ages to shut up. I love them anyway!
Cockateil:
The second most cheapest or expsensive. either way you look at it. Birds like these tend to become attached to one person in particular.I have one and he absolutly adores me but hates everyone else. They can be such sooks and just love attention. They loved to be handled and patted. They arnt to loud but can be taught to talk the easiest out of all of them. Mine can talk, sing, dance too! They are very smart and can sing a ton of stuff! They are full of life and you need to be able to handle a bird that literally follows you and loves you to bits.
Budgies or parakeets. Same thing. :
The cheapest but mind you i own a hand reared one and he is the sweetest and funniest bird you ever meet. They can be taught to talk! They love a partner or another bird in the cage to keep them company when your not handling them. They are sweet birds and are so easy to care for.
Because you like bigger birds i would suggest other a conure or cockatiel. What ever you get make sure it is hand-reared, hand tame. It makes training them and keeping them tame so much easier. Well budgies and cockatiels are better hand reared anyway but conures just need a shit load of love anyway. all of them are great pets! Oh yeah quick tip! Dont get mirrors they can cause you bird to fall in love with themselves. Just a little warning
