What paint should I get for my Cockatiel’s cage?
I do not have my Cockatiel as yet, but sine my cage is rusty and needs painting over really badly, what paint should I get that are non toxic to the Cockatiel?
Also, how long should the cage air out after painting so then I can put my Cockatiel in?

Personally, I would just break down and get a new one.
Your cage isn’t in the best condition to start with. I question how you got the cage… if another bird died in it… if that bird was sick, etc.
Then you have rust. Paint may or may not stick to that properly. I didn’t have the best luck painting a rusted bike… can’t imagine a bird cage would fair any better.
In my view point, once an animal cage is to that point, ESPECIALLY if the animal is prone to chew (chinchilla, bird, rabbit, etc.).
It’s time to get rid of the cage. Because the other mess is finding a paint that won’t hurt the bird. Cockatiels aren’t huge chewers like a Conure, Macaw, etc. But they will still get into trouble if it’s allowed.

If you look at the two sites I listed below… opinions do differ. I’m still suggesting to break down and buy a new cage.
