Cages Cockatoos

Cages Cockatoos
are Cockatoos good for Experienced teens ? ” i live in a rural area with a large cage already “?

i don’t want folks getting mad . I will buy it if i won’t too . I have already did my homework on the cockatoo .

It really depends on the bird, but I would not suggest it. I have been in a room with about five baby hand-fed birds before, including a conure, two amazons, a couple Maximillians, and a cockatoo, and the only one who wouldn’t step on my finger and let me stroke their heads was the cockatoo. However, there was a rare Black Palm cockatoo who, although he was too big to be on my arm, would bend his head down for a scratch. They are really expensive though, usually above $100,000, so I wouldn’t get a cockatoo.

They are the neediest of all birds, but, unlike macaws, don’t scream continuously throughout the day. However, they do scream for about 10 minutes at around 5 am and pm every day. That’s not saying they won’t vocalize throughout the day either, but they won’t be as loud. They also produce tons of bird dander, which makes getting a cockatoo for any person with allergies is a bad, bad idea. Many of the large cockatoos are capable of putting 5,000 times more pressure when they bite than a human, which can easily bite to the bone of an arm or leg, and there’s no saying what they’d do to a finger. They easily become self-mutilators and hundreds are given up each year because they become ‘problem birds’.
