Is this a worthy response to Elaine’s question about learning the craft?
Rebel I Do!
Read I did the 36 of English Basic
Learned now, I must forever retire,
for my mind befuddled, bedazzled, ‘bepuzzled’
anapestic, didactic, penta too!
With Tylenol and Advil I will assuage pain
while in ballad like form I sing my verse.
Hark, hark, the trumpets sound- the poets do rebel!
What measure should a poem really take?
Freedom sings a its own song- uninhibited
like birds winging free upon sky borne air.
Structures are cages- forever seeking to chain.
In measured meter, they seek to restrain.
Come, let us break these chains- Dare yourselves! Free yourselves!
To explore the world of words, without bonds.
To express in rhythms, yet to be discovered.
To inspire with words, few but said so well!
Read I did, rebel I will, for my inner voice
speaks its own meter- however poor it may be!
S3L1 typo and word
For freedom sings its own song- uninhibited
Yay! You are speaking for all of us whose inner creative poetic inclination has dominated over any rules that you might find in ancient literary studies books. Good one! You have proved a very important point, elegantly. =)
