If I bred my recessive pied yellow budgie with my normal blue, how the babies turn out?
My hen is the recessive pied (and she’s yellow) and my cock is the normal blue male. Please tell me how the babies will turn out?
Thanks in advance!
Here is the breeding expectations table for this pairing
so recessive pied to normal gives you all normals split for recessive pied.
As green is dominant and the yellow recessive is a green series….all babies will be green normals. If they are anything else is will be due to splits, Like Dad could be split opaline, split cinnamon, split ino, split anything really as can the Mum. If the Mum is split blue then you will get some blue babies, but if she isnt they will all be greens.
If the babies are split recessive and paired to another normal later on they will NOT get 50% visual recessives as suggested but that pairing again would give all normals with 50% of them split for recessive pied as per the expectations table bottom line. The 50% splits you will only know by breeding them all as they will all look like normals but only half are splits.
Baby Blue Budgie ~ Skyler ~ is very tame
