question about our birds cages?
we have to parrots and we clean their cages regularly..but recently it’s been giving off a ‘sour’ smell and we don’t know how to get rid of it..any ideas what we can do without harming the birds?
Some people use a jet wash, the type you use to clean your car or drive, take the cage outside and give it a good spray and it will get off any caked on poo.
I use Johnson’s Clean ‘n’ Safe disinfectant cleaner, and give all of the cage a good scrub with a pan scrub, there may be some rotting food on parts of the cage you can’t see, I would take the cage apart so you can get to every bit of it and see if that works. You obviously can’t use any air fresheners or such like or you will kill the birds.
I feed my African Grey, lemons, limes and oranges with his fresh food and these leave a nice smell in his cage.
