Bird Perch

Bird Perch
Are there any tree branches that are not safe for my bird to use as a perch?

I have an Alexandrine who has just chewed all the way through her perch in her cage. I want to replace it with some natural tree branches. Are there any trees (in Australia) that would be harmful/poisonous to her? I am guessing frangapani branches would be as they are full of white sap… but I wouldn’t use those any way. I know bamboo is good but I don’t think it would be strong enough. Also I assume I should wash it first? I need to be careful of washing it with chemicals though as she is going to chew on it.

Here’s a reference list . Unsafe in left column. Also be sure to read the introduction.

Pour some boiling water over it and dry in that nice hot Aussie sun. Make sure it hasn’t been sprayed. You could also dry in oven at low temp. watching carefully.
