Some parrots, as babies, are afraid of the color red. my indian ringneck was. after a while he got over it , though. im not sure if this carries over to wild birds, but id think that it wouldnt. the type of wood you use will. do not use cedar, ever, for anything that will get close to a bird. the oil in the cedar wood is EXTREMELY toxic to birds. click this link to see what happens to a blue crown conure that was housed on cedar bedding.
it makes their feathers fall out and their health decline.
overall, id say color, no real problem. but do not make the houses out of cedar.
