Can I use caulk (Titebond, acrylic latex) on bathroom floor tiles instead of grout?
Our contractor did a crap job of grouting our bathroom floor. We only realized how crap after we fired him. Anyway, I have some Titebond Tub & Tile caulk (acrylic latex) which I used in the kitchen. It’s easy to use, clean and is virtually odor free.
This guy didn’t use spacers in between the tiles, so in most places the spacing is quite narrow and he seemed to have left a lot of gaps where you can see the cement/tile adhesive. This will have to be scraped and cleaned. I did a little test in the one corner of the bathroom, using the caulk to see if it would work and look better than the grout. But before I continue I just wanted to find out if it’s actually a wise thing to do. I’m desperately trying to make the best of a bad situation. Any advice?
Think you will find that caulk is not very flexible and not waterproof enough for a bathroom,so with movement in your floor it will probably crack and leak water under the tiles and eventually damage your ceiling below.Much better to use waterproof flexible grout or maybe silicone mastic.
